Active Release Therapy

Active Release Therapy involves soft tissue system/movement-based massage techniques that treat problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, and nerves. Headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee problems, and tennis and golfers’ elbow are just a few of the many conditions that can be resolved quickly and permanently with this therapy.  Accidents - such as car accidents & whip-lash injuries result in TMJ issues.

Some of these conditions are a result of over-used muscles and are repetitive-strain injuries. Many are the result of), improper footwear, inadequate sports equipment, sports injuries, non-ergonomic office settings with computers, desks, and chairs, tech-neck issues, and improper/ unsafe working conditions and practices. Examples: icy conditions, heavy lifting, straining, etc.

What is an Active Release Therapy treatment like?

  • Every session involves a combination of examination and treatment. The Chiropractor uses his or her hands to evaluate the texture, tightness, and movement of muscles, fascia, tendons, ligaments and nerves. Abnormal tissues are treated by combining precisely directed tension with very specific patient movements.
